Crooked Run Baptist Church Statement of Faith

The Scriptures: We believe that the Bible, Old and New Testaments, was written by holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. It is our only rule and authority for faith and practice. 2 Peter 1:21; 2 Timothy 3:16
The Godhead: We believe that our God is one God who has manifested Himself in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17
Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God. Therefore, He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and is equal in His deity with the Father and Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God created the Heavens and the earth, and is upholding all things by the word of His power. He died on the Cross, was buried in a tomb, raised the third day, and is coming again in power and glory. John 3:16; Matthew 1:18-21; Hebrews 4:15. Man: We believe that man was a direct creation of God and was made in the image of God. We believe Adam, the first man, was created sinless. but chose to sin and was therefore separated from God through sin. all after Adam are born of Adam and therefore are sinners. Genesis 2:7; Romans 5:12
Salvation: We believe that only those who by repentance and faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death on the Cross of Calvary are saved from sin and its penalty. John 14:6; Acts 4:12; 20:21; Romans 4:3-8; Ephesians 2:8-10
Eternal Life: We believe that all who are born again through faith in Christ receive the gift of eternal life and are eternally secure by the promise and power of God. John 10:27-29, Ephesians 1:13; Romans 8:38-39
Eternity: We believe Heaven is the place of eternal bliss for the saved, and the Lake of Fire is the place of eternal punishment for those who ignore or refuse salvation by grace through faith in Christ. Revelation 20:11-15; 21:1-7; 22:1-5
